Poker players should not play too many hands, neither they should play too little of them. Poker players should know which hands to go for, and which hands to give up. According to some poker experts, here are some of the poker hands you may want to fold:

In Texas Hold'em Poker, the worst hand to have is the 2-7, which is also known as the hammer. Why is it the worst? Well, it cannot make a straight, for one. What if they are suited? If they indeed form a flush, expect that another player should also have formed a flush, and chances are, it will be higher than yours. Even if you got a pair out of this, it would not be a high pair. Your most probable chance to win is to get two pairs, which is a far catch.

Another bad hand in Texas Hold'em Poker, which is similar to the 2-7 hand, is the 2-6 hand. Like the 2-7, it will only make a low flush, if it ever does form a flush. Unlike the 2-7 hand though, it can form a straight. However, it only makes a weak straight. If the community cards at the poker table give you 3, 4, 5, and 6, someone with an 8 could easily beat you to the pot.

Even though Doyle Brunson has made poker history twice with a 2-10 hand, a beginner poker player should avoid playing this hand. Like the 2-7 hand, you will not form a straight with this hand. Even if you got a pair of 10's with this hand, any face card and the ace will surely beat you.

Another hand you should not play in Texas Hold'em Poker is the combination of unsuited face card and low card. Even if your face card pairs with another one in the community cards at the table, you will have a very weak kicker.

This goes the same with Ace-little hand. Ace seems a very powerful card in poker, but watch out. Just because it's an ace, it does not mean that you should play it. Most novice poker players play the Ace-little hand, though, they get over excited with their ace. Most poker experts would advice you to play this hand only if you have a free look of the flop, and see what comes next. Otherwise, if somebody at the poker table has raised at pre-flop, it is advisable that you fold.
